He’s even more excited and he can’t wait to receive the Eucharist after reading this book.... will continue to pass it on to my other kids.

I found the book child friendly, explaining briefly the sequence of celebration of mass. As catechist we can develop from what is written in the book, speak about own personal holy communion etc.. Very colourful, the kids love it. Appropriate for children from 7 to 10 yrs old.

Good for a boy I bought this to read with my grandson. It is a sweet book. The main character of the story is a boy. It is a story, not a sacramental prep book.

Even though it suggests the best ages of readers is 4 to 8, I have no problem reading it to my 8th grade Catechism class as well. Our younger generation is no longer satisfied with having "blind faith". They want more explanations in terms they can understand. I initially ordered this book for my young niece and nephew, but I will order more and plan to have them on hand all the time. After seeing this one, I will also be ordering the complete collection. In simple language, O'Keefe orients the reader to the meaning of "holy day of obligation" and "diocese", explaining the sometimes shifting nature of our celebration of the six Holy Days currently celebrated in the United States. In story form, she weaves descriptions and dates for each of the Holy Days, relating them to their scriptural roots. Wonderful illustrations by Anne Catharine Blake compliment O'Keefe's uplifting tone. This book, aimed at readers ages five through nine, reads more like a storybook than a textbook.
