“Freedom’s Complications” Freedom, 2024 Anthology

I’m thrilled to share that my poem, “Freedom’s Complication,” is featured in the newly released Freedom, 2024 Anthology, edited by Larry Robin.

This anthology explores the universal theme of freedom—an idea that knows no borders, transcends cultures, and evolves through eras. But what does freedom truly mean when its expression varies so greatly from one person to another, from one nation to the next?

In “Freedom’s Complication,” I reflect on the meaning of freedom as shaped by three significant celebrations: Independence Day in the United States, Canada Day, and Bastille Day. Each moment offers a unique perspective on freedom, highlighting the diverse ways freedom is pursued, celebrated, and defended.

This collection of voices invites us to explore the complexities of freedom, moving beyond the political to touch on the artistic and realistic aspects of this profound concept. As we engage with these diverse perspectives, may we approach the conversation with open hearts, seeking to understand and respect the myriad ways freedom is experienced worldwide.
