Special Virtual Poetry Reading on International Haiku Poetry Day!

Join Us for a Special Virtual Poetry Reading on International Haiku Poetry Day!

In celebration of National Poetry Month and International Haiku Poetry Day, I am excited to announce that I will be participating in a virtual poetry reading hosted by Moonstone Press. This event will feature a selection of my haiku, alongside works from other talented authors.

Event Details:
Date: Sunday, April 21, 2024
Time: 2 PM EDT
Location: Virtual via ZOOM

International Haiku Poetry Day, celebrated on April 17th, was initiated in 2007 and has been championed by The Haiku Foundation. It honors the haiku, a form of Japanese poetry that captures the essence of a moment in nature. A traditional haiku consists of three lines: the first with five syllables, the second with seven, and the third with five again, creating a brief but impactful snapshot of the natural world.

During the event, I will be sharing some of my Haiku from an upcoming anthology by Moonstone Press,  inspired by the ongoing transformation of our own backyard in the Midlands of South Carolina.

Originally, our lawn was nothing but sparse crabgrass and weeds, devoid of bees, butterflies, birds, or frogs. Through our dedicated efforts to restore native flora and fauna, the land is gradually being revived. Each haiku—chronicles our unique ecological journey.

  • Wildflower Conquest
  • Accidental Harvest
  • Garden Plans
  • Fire Ant Dilemma

We invite you to join us for this poetic journey to celebrate the beauty and simplicity of haiku and other poetic forms. Whether you are a longtime lover of poetry or new to the genre, this reading promises to connect us all to the serene and stirring world of nature through words.

Please RSVP  Here to secure your spot for this enchanting afternoon of poetry.

Looking forward to sharing this moment with you!
