Thriving: An Anthology

Unveiling Thriving: An Anthology

The essence of life’s resilience is elegantly woven into “Thriving: An Anthology,” a compelling collection I am privileged to contribute to, curated by Rhonda Rosenheck and set for release by Exsolutas Press in March 2024. This anthology delves into the profound narrative of living robustly amidst adversities.

“Thriving” brings together 87 works across fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and art, showcasing the talents of 67 contributors celebrated for their literary and artistic achievements. This collection immerses readers in the raw and often beautiful struggle to overcome and flourish, offering a panoramic view of human resilience.

My Short Story: ‘Mom, Me, and Brian Wilson’

In this short story, “Mom, Me, and Brian Wilson,” I delve into the heartfelt story of a mother and son who, despite their disabilities, cherish the opportunity to continue a tradition of attending a music concert at the state fair together, this time swaying to the lively tunes of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys.

The Artistic Process: Dandelion Book Cover

Creating the cover for “Thriving” marked a pivotal moment in my artistic journey, especially after losing part of my vision in my right eye in August of 2023. This adversity not only tested my resilience but also propelled me into new realms of creative expression.

Inspired by the resilience of dandelions, the cover’s mixed media collage combines the delicate strokes of watercolor pencils with the vivid hues of honey-based M. Graham watercolors, capturing the essence of thriving against the odds.

An Invitation to Thrive Together

“Thriving: An Anthology” extends beyond a mere collection of works; it is an invitation to uncover strength and joy amidst life’s trials. My story, along with the other powerful narratives and artworks, beckons readers to traverse the diverse dimensions of thriving, celebrating our collective spirit of resilience.
